Soak Your Whites In Baking Soda Water For This Genius Reason!
White clothes often start to look dull and don’t remain white after many washes. Expensive laundry detergents and white bleach might do the trick, but there are inexpensive and natural ways that can do the same with clothes.
Laundry detergents contain brighteners which are chemicals and they stay on clothing and after washing. These brighteners are actually optical and they change UV lights by minimizing yellow light and enhancing the blue light. And of course the clothes look whiter and brighter.
To keep these unpleasant issues and toxic chemicals away, try the following natural and safe alternatives:
1. Baking Soda
In 4 liters of water, add one cup of baking soda. In this mixture soak your white clothes. This way you will avoid fragrances, chemicals and other additives, and still your clothes will be fresh and bright.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide – 3% is a bleach that is non chlorine and it removes all the stubborn stains while whitening the clothes. You can mix one cup of hydrogen peroxide with your laundry detergent and use it as usual.
3. Distilled White Vinegar
You can give the extra boost to your natural laundry detergent if you add 1 cup of distilled white vinegar in it. This vinegar successfully removes old oily and yellow stains. You can also put it in a spray bottle and just spray it directly on the stains.
4. Dishwasher Detergent
Natural dishwashers (of course eco-friendly) can also whiten the clothes. Add a little bit to your laundry detergent, ¼ cup is enough. Wash the clothes as usual. You must choose detergents that don’t contain chemicals and additives. Look for phosphate-free and chlorine-free versions.
5. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice can brighten white clothing in two ways. The first is to add a cup of lemon juice in your washing machine and rinse the clothes. Then, put the clothes outside to dry.
The second way is to add a lemon juice to white clothes, but before that soak them in a basin with hot water, and leave them for a few hours. After that you can wash them regularly in the washing machine.
