The latest research has shown that people who consume beer regularly have lowered chances of developing dementia. The progression of degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s can be significantly slowed down by the ingredient found in hops known as Xn or xanthohumol.
This ingredient protects the brain the brain cells from oxidative damage and thus averting the progression of neurological diseases.

Hops have been used in the traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Due to its multiple pharmacological functions such as anti-inflammation, anti-obesity, antivirus, cancer chemoprevention, anticancer, cardiovascular protection and anti-oxidation, Xn has attracted considerable interest.
The laboratory experiments have shown that Xn significantly lower the damaging process and reduce the levels of oxidative stress – closely connected to degenerative diseases.
Neuronal cells are extremely vulnerable to oxidative stress – one of the greatest reasons for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

We can retard or block the process of such disease by stopping the oxidative process.
According to Dr. Fang, many neurological conditions can be slowed down by drinking beer. The Canadian study that was conducted in 1998 showed that men who consume beer regularly had lower rates of prostate cancer. The Xn molecules might be an extremely powerful actor for the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
On the other side, the British scientists warned that the consumption of beer too often may have negative results.
Brain tissue loss and dementia can be caused by excessive alcohol consumption according to prior research.
The silent dementia epidemic can be caused by the increasing trends of heavy drinking.
However, we need further work in order to find the exact cure for neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s.
