Air Purifying Plants

Aloe Vera

This plant is known for the healing benefits, but it is also called “an oxygen bomb”. Aloe Vera has ability to absorb the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and to increase levels of oxygen better that other plants. It needs light and well-drained soil, and often watering.

Peace lily

Peace lily was the number one plant on the list of NASA for the plants that best purify the air. This plant is amazing for ridding the air of benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and ammonia. It needs weekly watering and shade.

Spider plant

This plant thrives in indirect sunlight. It filters the air from toxins such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde and gasoline in a 200 square meters area!

Estragon

Estragon is perfect for the people that want clean air, but they don’t have much time for carring. It thrives on little light and is very easy to grow.

English ivy

This plant can eliminate 58% of feces particles and 60% of toxins in only 6 hours. Four hours daily are enough for the English ivy to thrive.
Note: English ivy is toxic for the pets, so if you have a dog or a cat, put this plant out of their reach.

Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum removes 90 % of formaldehyde in only 20-24 hours. Also, it efficiently removes benzene. To stimulate its purifying effect, place it next to a window.

Golden pothos

This plant is perfect in reducing levels of the trichloroethylene and benzene. It needs indirect light.

Every household, according to NASA, should have 15-18 air-purifying plants, at least! This number is for 500 square meters area.
