How To Differentiate Real Honey From The Fake
The latest testing done for Food Safety News show that ¾ of the honey on the American market is not the real honey bees produce.
The results have shown that out of many products, the pollen has been cleaned.
Honey without Pollen Isn’t Honey
The World Health Organization and others, confirmed that without pollen, it is impossible to verify where the honey came from. Without pollen we don’t know if the sources are safe and legitimate or not.
The U.S Food Administration also stated that honey without pollen is not honey anymore.
Why the Brands Remove The Pollen?
The ultra-filtering is a procedure where the honey is exposed to high heat, and then through small filters, the pollen is removed. This procedure has been developed by the Chinese. So the determining of the source is impossible and this products can contain illegal antibiotics.
Brands Without Pollen
Professor Vaughn Bryanta, investigator of pollen in honey, found that every sample taken from farmer’s markets, stores like Trader Joe, PCC and “natural” stores had the full amount of pollen.
He also discovered:
• 100 % of the honey from Rite-Aid, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens had no pollen.
• 100 % of the honey in small packages from McDonalds, KFC and Smucker had no pollen.
• 77% of the honey from stores like Sam’s Club, Walmart, Costco, H-E-B and Target had no pollen.
• 76% of the honey taken from the groceries like Safeway, Giant Eagle, TOP Food, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Stop & Shop, QFC, King Soopersand Metro Market had no pollen.
So if you want to buy real honey, you should consider that is made locally, to be organic and of course to contain pollen.
