Many people are suffering from chest congestion. It is a common problem which indicates other health diseases or conditions. Chest congestion can be caused by disorders affecting the respiratory system, such as common cold or heart disease. Chest congestion is characterized by the feeling of heaviness, tightness or pressure in the chest region. Breathing becomes difficult as a result of the pressure or tightness in the chest. Therefore, it is crucial to remove the mucus that is deposited in the chest region in order to get relief from chest congestion.
Even small children can be affected by chest congestion. They are more sensitive to infections, which increase the chest mucus production. Also, they are unable to eject the mucus or to avoid the discomfort. There are many homemade folk remedies for ejecting mucus out of the lungs, but this recipe is great because it is also suitable for children.

  • 1 tbsp sage
  •  1 tbsp flaxseeds
  •  1 tbsp marshmallow root (you can buy it here)
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  •  1 cup of Pure Maple Syrup
  • 250 ml of water

Method of Preparation:
In a small saucepan, put the 250 ml of water. Add the pure maple syrup to the water and preheat it on a medium heat. Then add the flaxseed, sage, marshmallow root and the lemon slices and turn the heat on low. Leave it like that for around 15 minutes and then turn off the heat. Strain the mixture and store the resulted syrup in a small glass bottle.
Take one tablespoon of this remedy three times a day. It is recommended to use it until you feel better and your cough disappears. Keep the syrup in the refrigerator.
